Who could believe that so much time has gone by between Blogs?

I never get tired of looking at birch trees. Something magical.
Honestly, I cannot tell you where the time has gone. I have been so
busy doing art and teaching workshops and courses and the time flows
on...
I had the wonderful experience of working with the Markham Group of
Artists and we enjoyed a day of doing Mixed Media together. The art
coming out of that group was so unique and exciting. I really was
amazed at what they could do.
I had some truly interesting emails: a participant from last summer's
workshop at Southampton Art School was selected to be in a juried show
and also had the painting, called The Red Dress published [...]

Beautiful Places - Beautiful People

I had the opportunity to drive along Highway 118E this week, and if this is not one of the recognized beautiful roads of the world it should be. This is typical Muskoka beauty: huge rock outcroppings of pink and striations of so many colours, jack pines doing imitations of the Group of Seven paintings, marshes with forlorn trees, trunks sunk deep in water. [...]

Painting, the best of times.
This is the best. I started off spring workshops with a totally
wonderful group of artists at the Barrie Art Club. We created in Mixed
Media Collage and the results were amazing. When I arrived in the
morning, we got that coffee on and I had spread all the supplies out on
the middle of the long table, which was the format we were following.
It was just right. There were 10 participants this time, all ready to
get to work immediately.
After a brief demonstration of the methods that could be used, and then
a talk on theory - although the theme was [...]

Also look for art exhibitions and workshops coming up soon
I am rolling out my art programs for the spring with new courses in
Richmond Hill. And now that the weather is going to cooperate, it will
be wonderful to do something exciting. Of course, as I write this, it
is pouring rain.
Two adult courses are set to go at the Richmond Hill Group of Artists’
Mill Pond Gallery at 314 Mill Street, Richmond Hill, ON 905 770 7449
(leave a message) or email me directly: artistvalerieatyahoo.ca which
will give you the information you need to register.
Course descriptions are also available here at www.valeriekent.com and
at www.rhga.ca
The eight [...]

Thank you Mark Selkirk, originator of the Moose Project in Toronto, ON
Please be on the Elvis lookout trail. Elvis has left the building, but in reality, he left the street in front of the liquor store in Collingwood, and we do not know where he ended up. [...]

Autumn Fire to Fire your Creativity
Summer has been wonderful. Hope all artists have had some opportunity
to enjoy some plein air opportunities. This September I am looking
forward to beginning some of the Autumn programs on my horizon: There
are new courses and workshops. Hope you will join me and settle into
painting and creating something new and exciting for the season.
First on the roster is the Young Artists Series starting on September
19th, 2010. This is for artists from 6 through 13th and will be run at
my Studio in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This is always such a joy and I
have been looking at [...]

Iridescent Iris
Okay okay, where did the time go and why did I not add to my Blog Log.
It is fooling myself to say that it was just yesterday that I added my
last post, but boy, that was a while ago. I can give you every excuse
in the book, “The dog ate it.” (Poor Princess Coco Bunny falsely
accused…) or in fact, if no excuse works then I will have to take
responsibility.
There have been many classes I have taught between the last post and
today and it never fails to renew me and teach me lovely new ways of
working. This learning [...]

Launching this updated website has been quite an adventure, particularly because I was fortunate enough to receive many insightful and pertinent suggestions. Many of the remarks will make the site better and I can see solid reasons for implementing them to make the website more responsive, work more smoothly and provide the information in a salient and cogent fashion.
